Wednesday Roundup : The February Edition
The NJSGA’s “Wednesday Roundup” typically runs weekly through the golf season. With so much news and buzz in #thestateofgolf, the NJSGA has released its February edition of the Wednesday Roundup.
- New Jersey-native Ryan McCormick had his best finish so far this season on the PGA Tour where he rode four solid days of play to a T38 finish at the Mexico Open at Vidant. McCormick would go seven-under on the tournament with rounds of 70-70-68-69 in his third event of the 2024 campaign. (Read More)
- The Cognizant Founders Cup has announced the creation of the New Jersey Women’s Golf Advisory Council with a mission to unite like-minded golf and business professionals who are eager to elevate and shape the future of women’s golf in New Jersey. NJSGA Board of Trustees member Alyson Johnson will lead the council which will meet regularly throughout the year to share ideas and strategize growth initiatives, with several events planned during the tournament in May. - On March 7, 2024, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City (BBBS of NYC) will hold its newest golf event, BIG Winter Golf at Five Iron Golf – Herald Square. Attendees will be able to practice their swing using state of the art simulators and enter a three-hole tournament to have a chance to win an exclusive travel and golfing experiences. NJSGA members are extended a $50 discount. (Read More)
- The First Annual MGWA Celebration Of Howie Munck will take place on May 6, 2024 at Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point in New York. Registration includes a 2 p.m. shotgun start, forecaddie fee (gratuity additional) and dinner with a cash bar to follow. Proceeds from the event will benefit LI, NJ and Westchester Caddie Scholarship Funds as well as the MGA Foundation. (Read More)
- In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the NJSGA hosted its third annual event to celebrate and empower young New Jersey women. This year’s event, held at USGA Headquarters in Liberty Corner on Feb. 7, saw panelists Alyson Ramsey Johnson, Gia Liwski, Tracy Parsons and Julie Peluso, provide invaluable insight on the experiences they’ve faced as a females in sport as well as advancing the struggle for equality on the playing fields.
