Wednesday Roundup - August 28, 2024

The NJSGA’s “Wednesday Roundup” will run weekly through the 2024 golf season. This weekly news summary will feature local stories and news from throughout #thestateofgolf. • Brendan Hunt of Somerset Hills Country Club won the 45th National Car Rental Assistant Championship at Canoe Brook Country Club. (Click for more) 

• Jim McGovern of White Beeches Golf & Country Club won the MGA Senior Open on August 27 at The Seawane Club. (Click for more)

• The 11th Annual R.A. Schiavone Memorial Cup Pro/Senior Scratch Event will be held on Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16 at Forsgate Country Club. For more information, please contact Michael Furey at michaelfurey@forsgatecc.com.  

• Griffin LaLonde, Benjamin Oh, and Kacey Jeon are competing in the UHY Albany Junior Championships in Delmar, New York. (Click for more) 

• Shannon Hare Rouillard of Chatham qualified for the 62nd U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. (Click for more) 

• Rory Asselta finished fifth at the K.J. Choi Foundation Junior Championship BY SK Telecom at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club. Rayee Feng finished second, as Vidhi Lakhawala finished t3 on the girls’ side. (Click for more) 

• Several New Jersey golfers finished in the top 10 at the 109th MET Open Championship Presented by Callaway at Wee Burn Country Club, including Colin Summers and Jack Wall. (Click for more) 

• Netflix is seeking extras for the filming of Happy Gilmore 2. (Click for more)

• The TJ DiMarco Golf Outing will be hosted Monday, September 9th at Old Bridge Golf Club at Rose Lamberston. Proceeds will benefit the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association and TJ’s Children’s College Fund. (Click for more) 

• The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children is hosting a golf outing at Canoe Brook Country Club on September 25. The SFIC provides children in need with an opportunity to receive a high-quality education in a safe environment. (Click for more) 

• Kids’ Chance of New Jersey is hosting an event at Scotland Run on September 30. Kids’ Chance of New Jersey is a 501c3 that provides scholarships to children. (Click for more) 

• The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation’s Jersey Shore Golf Tournament will be held on October 10 at Deal Country Club. (Click for more) 

• Rutgers University Men’s Golf is hosting the 7th annual Hackberry Invitational on Friday, September 27 at the Rutgers University Golf Course. This event will celebrate the 88th year of the Men’s Golf program. (Click for more)  

• Spectum360 will be hosting their Annual Fore the Kids Golf Tournament on Monday, September 9 at Crestmont Country Club. Spectrum360 provides people with autism and those with related challenges the specialized programs and support they need. To register independently, the player will receive on-site brunch, dinner, and open bar access for $850. (Click for more) 

• On Monday, September 23, the West Morris Area YMCA will host their 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Panther Valley Golf and Country Club. This event will support the YMCA’s financial assistance fund. There are several opportunities to participate in the event. (Click for more)
