Walsh Medals; 10 Earn Mid-Amateur Bids at Rock Spring
WEST ORANGE, N.J. – Ten players are moving on to Union League National Golf Club to compete in the 41st Mid-Amateur Championship after a qualifying round at Rock Spring Golf Club May 1. Edward Walsh of Trump National GC - Bedminster fired a score of two-under par, 69 to earn medalist honors.
Walsh rode a stellar back-nine of three-under par, 33 on his way to the top of the leaderboard. After making the turn a one-over par, Walsh birdied four of the first six holes to separate himself from the field. Walsh is continuing his strong start to the season after he and his partner qualified for the 92nd Four-Ball Championship which will be held at Hollywood Golf Club from May 7-9.
Joining Walsh at shooting even par or better was Beau Guarino of Riverton Country Club and Brian Hart of Deal Golf & Country Club. Both Guarino and Hart finished the day at even-par, 71.
Rock Spring served as the first qualifying site for the 41st Mid-Amateur Championship at Union League National, which will host its first NJSGA major championship from June 4-6. Three qualifying dates remain for the championship: May 6 at Brooklake Country Club, May 16 at Little Mill Country Club and May 20 at Westlake Golf and Country Club.
