Valley Bank Captures 5th Corporate Challenge Presented by Provident Bank
DEAL, N.J. - In their first year playing in the Corporate Challenge presented by Provident Bank, Valley Bank claimed the title on Wednesday afternoon at Hollywood Golf Club.
"We knew we had a chance because we had a good mix of low and high handicaps,” said John Meyer, Senior Vice President & Market President of Valley Bank. “Our high handicap put a bunch of good shots out there and we made some putts and it was a true ham and egg throughout the entire 18 holes. We weren’t sure where it would put us but we’re psyched to be winners.”
Headquartered in Morristown, Valley Bank won the challenge in convincing fashion by four strokes. The team made up of Meyer, Daniel Buonocore, Christopher Philips and Chris Forno, found that the Corporate Challenge was a great outlet to come together as a team.
“It's great to get out,” Philips expressed. “It's not just about winning. We see each other for work, but we never have a chance to get out and kick it back a little.”
The team compiled 146 Stableford points.
The event provided an unforgettable day of golf and amenities for foursomes representing New Jersey companies. All proceeds went toward the two charitable arms of the NJSGA – the Caddie Scholarship Foundation and the Youth Foundation.
"It's a unique year,” added Forno. “It's been tough to be in banking this year and this was a great opportunity for us to come together with other bankers and two good causes.”
