USGA Experts Conduct NJSGA Rules Of Golf Seminars
The New Jersey State Golf Association encourages anyone associated with golf in the state to attend one of its two upcoming seminars on the Rules of Golf.
Board of Trustees members Dr. Albert Kuchler and former municipal court Judge Evan Broadbelt , a pair of top-rated U.S. Golf Association officials, are the expert rules officials representing the NJSGA who will conduct the Rules Seminars. Both have attained perfect scores on USGA officiating exams and both have worked at USGA events and will continue to do so in 2013.
The seminars on the Rules of Golf are set for Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Spring Lake Golf Club, and on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the new NJSGA Headquarters at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth.
The Rules seminars run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include breakfast and lunch and a Rules of Golf book for a $35 fee.
Dr. Kuchler serves on the USGA Junior Committee and officiates that event. In 2012, he also officiated at the U.S. Women's Public Links, the US. Men's State Team Championships, the U.S. Senior Amateur and the U.S. Junior Amateur. He is in his fourth year of service to the USGA.
Broadbelt, in his fifth year with the USGA, is on the USGA Senior Committee and in 2012, worked that event as well as the U.S. Women's Amateur, the U.S. Men's State Team Championship and the U.S. Women's Public Links. He is signed on to work the 2013 U.S. Women's Open, U.S. Women's Amateur and the U.S. Senior Amateur.
“I think it’s great that our Rules Seminars are taught by experts who have officiated at the highest levels of the sport,” said NJSGA president Tom McGovern.

“Our Rules of Golf seminars provide an excellent vehicle as a primer for the upcoming season and as a refresher on the rules,” said Mike McAneny, NJSGA Tournament Director. “The seminars cover a lot of common rules situations that crop up in golf leagues and in tournaments.
“The seminars are perfect for rules chairperson of a golf league, for employees of golf courses and for club professionals, who can receive education credit for their attendance. Truly, the seminars are for any golfer or tournament player,” he added.
The Rules of Golf seminars are conducted for NJSGA member golfers, NJSGA volunteers, PGA Golf Professionals (for credit), other club staff, high school golf coaches, and anyone interested in the Rules of Golf. The seminar focuses on the basics of the Rules and commonplace situations that arise on a frequent basis. A question and answer period is also part of the event.
