Upper Montclair Awarded 2016 Club Of The Year At Celebration Of Golf
The presentation of the New Jersey State Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Foundation 2016 Club of the Year to the Upper Montclair Country Club was a featured during the 13th Annual Celebration of Golf on Thursday, November 3, at Liberty House in Jersey City. Present to accept the award on behalf of the club was Brian Hunt, current NJSGA Trustee and NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Club Representative.
This award is given to a participating NJSGA member club of the Caddie Scholarship Program for recognition of the club's outstanding commitment, dedication, and leadership.
Upper Montclair was awarded this honor for achieving the highest number of Par Club Contributors ever recorded in a single year. Donors to the Caddie Scholarship Foundation become members of the Par Club when giving a minimum of $100. UMCC increased its Par Club number of 281 in 2014 to a record-breaking 439 members in 2015. The club ranked third in the state in total monies contributed at $44,570.
Last year, Spring Brook Country Club was awarded the 2015 NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Club of the Year award for its tremendous increase in Par Club members, ranking number one in the state with 295. Although Spring Brook's Par Club membership numbers significantly increased again in 2015 to 325, the Morristown club ranked second to Upper Montclair's outstanding support.
"I'm so pleased with the membership of Upper Montclair--almost every single member contributed a minimum of $100 to the Caddie Scholarship Foundation in 2015," said Brian Hunt. "We have a wonderful program here and I'm proud that the membership recognizes the impact their support has on these young kids."
For the 2016-17 academic year, five Upper Montclair caddies were awarded a total of $22,800.
The top contributing clubs and top par club clubs for the 2016 year will be announced early next year.
