Ultimate Team Event (UTE) at Hawk Pointe an Ultimate Success

WASHINGTON TWP, N.J. - The Ultimate Team Event (UTE) on August 21 was a superb day of golf, camaraderie, networking and competition at Hawk Pointe Golf Club.

The exciting event includes members of clubs and the NJSGA E-Club throughout the state of New Jersey competing against other twosomes in a unique 27-hole format. 96 players participated in the all-day event, which featured hot breakfast, golf, lunch and an awards reception.

“The handicap system really helps to let everyone play,” said Colin McKay. “Not that our handicaps are too bad, but it makes it inclusive for everyone that you know whether you're a beginner or have been playing for years like us. It definitely makes it more enjoyable for everyone.”

The UTE is scored using the Stableford Points System with Net and Gross scoring. Round one featured an 18-hole, Four-Ball followed by round two, which was a 9-hole, Pinehurst format Championship round. The top half of the field played the back 9 in the Championship Pinehurst round, while the bottom half played the front 9 in the Consolation Pinehurst round.

“If you like competitive golf, a format like this allows you to have some bad holes and you're not out of it,” reflected Andrew McGlynn, 33. “We had a couple of blow up holes and we just brushed it off and you go on to the next one. It gives you the opportunity to play fun golf, play with buddies and also have that competitive spirit too.”

Intriguing prizes were up for grabs, highlighted by the grand prize, an overnight stay and play at Seaview Resort and the exclusive Galloway National Golf Club.
