LANCASTER, N.J. - Megha Ganne of Holmdel and Katie Li of Basking Ridge are set to compete in the 79th U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club this week. The Garden State duo make up just two of 21 amateurs in the 156-person field.
Ganne will be making her third appearance as an amateur, while Li will be making her first start.
Ganne, 20, made waves three years ago at the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open at The Olympic Club when she earned a spot in Sunday’s final pairing before finishing tied for 14th, which was good enough for low-amateur honors. She’s coming off a standout season for Stanford University where she helped lead the Cardinal to the 2024 NCAA Championship title. In 2018, Ganne won the New Jersey State Golf Association Junior Girls’ Championship at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
Li, 19, is coming off a solid freshman season at Duke University where she played in all 31 rounds for the Blue Devils. In 2023, Li qualified for match play in both the U.S. Girls' Junior and U.S. Women's Amateur. In 2022, Li advanced to the Round of 16 in the U.S. Women’s Amateur.
On Thursday, Ganne will tee off at 1:47 p.m. ET and Li will tee off 7:07 a.m. ET.
Coverage of the U.S. Women’s Open Championship will be featured across Peacock, USA Network and NBC from Thursday to Sunday. To see the full schedule, click here.
