Trevor Randolph.reaches Round Of 32 At U.S. Mid-amateur
Current NJSGA Mid-Amateur champion Trevor Randolph of Franklin Lakes defeated Matt Parziale of Brockton, Mass., 4 and 3, to advance to Tuesday's Round of 32 at the 2016 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship on Monday (Sept. 12) at Stonewall (Old Course) in Ellverson, Pa.
In the Round of 32, Randolph lost to Joshua Irving of Dallas, Texas, 2 and 1.
Also in the Round of 64, Roger Hoit of Summit lost to Sammy Schmitz of Farmington, Minn., 3 and 2, while New Jersey native Michael Muehr of Potomac Falls, Va., advanced with a 3 and 2 victory over Kyle Hoffman of Lincoln, R.I.
Nine with New Jersey connections qualified for the event including Randolph, Hoit and New Yorkers Darin Goldstein of Bayonne Golf Club as well as Matt Finger of Woolwich Township, Clark Holle of South Orange, Thomas Lee of Alpine, Eric Lefante of Florham Park, .Adam Warner of Haddon Heights and Matt Mattare of Jersey City. Mattare lost in a playoff to reach match-play.
The event consists of 36 holes of stroke play after which the 264-player field is reduced to the low 64 scorers for match-play. There will be six rounds of match play, beginning Monday. The championship will conclude with a 36-hole final on Thursday, Sept. 15.
