Timby was the runner up for the championship in 2014 at Neshanic Valley Golf Course. The event was a learning experience and has been a motivator.

"I played this championship at Neshanic (Valley) a few years back and lost in a playoff, so i'm excited to get back there because I need to avenge that loss," Timby explained.

He finished his front nine even (36), before carding in an essential birdie on the back nine for a total of three birdies.

“This is a tournament I have been playing for years and I just love the way the NJSGA runs this tournament. Anytime you can put your name on any type of New Jersey State Golf Association trophy it’s obviously a big deal.”

Timby, Stoker and 13 others now advance to the 89th Public-Links Championship at Neshanic Valley Golf Course on August 16th.

This was the second qualifier in a series of three in the upcoming month.
