St. Peter's wins Met Intercollegiate Championship at Montclair G.C.
The Saint Peter's University men's golf team dominated the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange from start to finish, winning the team title by 14 strokes over Villanova University on Oct. 29.
Team Notes:
After entering the final round of the tournament with a seven-stroke lead, the Peacocks continued their dominance by extending the lead to 14 strokes over runner-up Villanova, winning with the event with a final card 283-300=583 (+23). Villanova finished in second-place with a 597 (+37). Iona placed third with a 598 (+38).
Individual Notes:
David Powers finished as the runner-up on the individual leaderboard to lead the Peacocks after posting a 70-73=143 (+3) in the two rounds. Jeffrey Peters carded a 145 (+5) ending tied for third for a top-10 finish. Melvin Morales made Saint Peter's largest jump from round one to two, closing out the tournament with a 149 (+9) moving up 15 spots from 26th to a tie for 11th place. Jose Cardona and Mike Winter rounded out the team scoring with cards of 152 (+12) and 153 (+13) respectively. Michael Stewart carded a 152 (+12) and Stanley Garrant a 164 (+24) as individuals.

"It's always nice to win, especially with it being our last event of the fall. Hopefully, we can take this momentum in the winter, work hard, and be ready to go in the spring. It was a great team effort; the course played a lot tougher than it did yesterday," Dilio said.
"With the pin locations and how windy it was, it made it very hard to hit it close. An awesome round for David Powers in this wind. I think he was a little disappointed with his finish to the round but overall a great way to end his fall season with a runner-up finish."
