Six Qualify at Galloping Hill for 39th Mid-Amateur Championship
Nick Desai of Baltusrol Golf Club
KENILWORTH, N.J. – Qualifying for the 39th New Jersey Mid-Amateur Championship is underway, and six players have advanced to the championship out of the Galloping Hill Golf Course qualifier, the first of four qualifying sites for the prestigious championship.
Six players in Nick Desai, Conor Casey, Jim Beadle, Mike Paduano, Harry Hagen and Andrew Guadagno recorded a round of 74 or better on Wednesday afternoon to advance to the championship, which will be held at Somerset Hills Country Club from June 8-10.
Desai, Casey and Beadle split medalist honors, notching a 2-over par 72 on the 6,279-yard course.
"I made a lot of solid three and four-foot par putts," said Beadle. "I didn't hit the ball great today, a little bit of breeze up, left myself a lot of testers and I think I achieved that pretty well."
The next qualifier for the 39th Mid-Amateur Championship is set for Wednesday, May 18 at Vineyard National Golf Course. Pairings and starting times can be found here.
"Somerset Hills is a gem in New Jersey and I think we're very fortunate to play some of the venues that we get to play," explained Beadle. "It's great to be back playing a lot of golf again and seeing some guys I haven't seen in a long time and the competition is always good."
