Seven New Jersey Courses Among Golfweek's 100 Best Classic Courses

Golfweek magazine’s just announced 100 Best Classic Courses, which appears in its March 7, 2016, issue, includes seven New Jersey tracKs including the No. 1 classic course – Pine Valley (1919, architects Crump and Colt). Four other venues were ranked among Golfweek's Best Modern Courses.

Other ranked New Jersey courses include No. 24 Plainfield (1921, Donald Ross), No. 25 Somerset Hills (1918, Tillinghast), No. 45 Baltusrol, Lower (1922, Tillinghast), No. 52 Baltusrol, Upper (1922, Tillinghast), No. 64, Ridgewood (1929, Tillinghast), and No. 99, Hollywood (1913, Travis).

Following No. 1 Pine Valley are No. 2 Cypress Point (Calif.), No. 3 Shinnecock Hills (N.Y.), No. 4 National Golf Links of America (N.Y.), No. 5 Augusta National (Ga.), No. 6 Oakmont (Pa.), No. 7 Merion, East (Pa.), No. 8, Pebble Beach (Calif.), No. 9 Fishers Island (N.Y.) and No. 10 Chicago (Ill.).

On its other announced list – Best Modern Courses - New Jersey's Galloway National (1995, Fazio), comes in at No. 27, followed by No. 54 Bayonne (2006, Bergstol), No. 61 Trump National Bedminster (2004, Fazio), and No. 72 Hidden Creek (2002, Coore and Crenshaw).
