Once again, New Jersey golfers have the opportunity to play some of the state’s most challenging private courses this upcoming golf season at a very reasonable cost thanks to the highly popular Member Golf Days.

“We’ve gotten a great response to our Member Golf Days. You see a lot of smiling faces out here today. There’s a lot of repetition , but a lot of new faces, too,” said Rich Kennedy, NJSGA Director of Handicapping and Member Benefits. “We’re hitting really special spots this summer.

“We’ve been to Trump National-Philadelphia with the skyline in the distance and beautiful Wildwood. Now, we’re here at one of the loveliest spots on the Shrewsbury River on a perfect golf day. We will enjoy the new Riverhouse on the course for our reception.

“Member Golf Days are about having people experience New Jersey golf course they may not otherwise have an opportunity to see. Next week, we’ll be at Edgewood in Bergen County, a real hidden gem. Then we have Ridge at Back Brook, Rock Spring and Metedeconk National. Rumson went all out for us. It’s a wonderful club. They’re happy to have us.”

Member Golf Days, which began with four events in 2011 and added a fifth in 2012, and a sixth in 2013, has jumped to 10 dates due to high demand at both classic and contemporary courses dotted throughout the state. The Member Golf Day season began on Monday, April 28, at Trump National-Philadelphia in Pine Hill and lasts until Tuesday, October 14 at Hidden Creek in Egg Harbor Township.

The other Member Golf Day outings include June 26 at Edgewood C.C. in Rivervale; Monday, July 21 at The Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes; Tuesday, August 5 at Rock Spring Club in West Orange; Monday, August 18 at Metedeconk National G.C. in Jackson; Wednesday September 17 at Copper Hill C.C. in Ringoes and Wednesday, September 24 at Shackamaxon C.C. in Scotch Plains.

The NJSGA will allow members to register on three dates. Registration is available now for Edgewood and Rock Spring. Ridge @ Back Brook and Metedeconk National are sold out. On July 1, registration opens for the final three Member Golf Days at Copper Hill, Shackamaxon and Hidden Creek.

“I played Metedeconk National and Hidden Creek last summer. This year, I will play here at Rumson and at Trump National. Member Golf Days gives guys like us a great opportunity to play a private country club. We can enjoy the day, the course and the atmosphere. It’s a phenomenal day and a great value,” Galloping Hill’s Howard Adler said.

“I’m doing it for a third straight year,” said Mike Nardella of Scotland Run. “I enjoy it every time. I have to stop telling my friends. They’re taking my spot at the sold-out events.”

“MY goal is to play every course in New Jersey. I’m up to 173, but for me, getting on the private courses is difficult and Member Golf Days help me achieve my goal,” said Ben DiPalma of high Mountain.
