Despite the sweltering heat and humidly, the thirteen-year-old Asselta racked up 10 birdies and an eagle over 36 holes enroute to his victory.

“I putted well on the front nine, the same as yesterday. Gave myself some good looks,” Asselta said. “On the back nine, I wasn’t going after too many pins, so I laid back a little bit.”

Asselta, who lead after day one before finishing third in last year’s Boys Championship, sealed the deal on day two this year to capture the title.

“It feels great. Last year I was pretty mad because I played really good the first round and then kind of just lost it,” Asselta said. “Winning it this year means a lot.”

Finishing behind Asselta in a tie for second was Tong Si and Aaron Koo, finishing with two-day totals of three-over par, 147. Koo, along with Asselta, was one of two golfers to break par on day one while Si made birdie on each of the final three holes on Thursday to finish strong.
