The NJSGA Youth Foundation supports deserving youth golf and sports-related programs throughout the state of New Jersey. This support is provided through grants and instructional clinics, as well as recognition through NJSGA publications and events.

The event attracted 28 foursomes who were able to play on the same course that 58 amateurs and 58 professionals will be tested on for the Open, sponsored by Donnelly Industries. The 54-hole stroke play major championship is set for Monday through Wednesday, July 24-26 on the par-72, 7,011-yard venue.

In addition to the golf outing entry, raffle tickets and course sponsorships were available to support the Youth Foundation. Altogether, the Pro-Am raised a one-year record of over $100,000 through entry fees, raffle ticket sales, hole sponsorships, and other donations.

Hackensack Golf Club generously donated the golf carts for the event.

"The Youth Foundation gives the New Jersey golf community an opportunity to join us in raising funds for needy youth groups throughout our state," said NJSGA Youth Foundation Chairman Frank O'Brien. "There are a number of ways that our patrons can participate namely as a golf participant, hole sponsor or the purchase of a book of raffle tickets. You can be assured that your kindness will benefit young children in need."

To close out the Pro-Am, a $5,000 donation by the NJSGA Youth Foundation to the Joseph Sanzari Children's Hospital, the local charity chosen by Hackensack Golf Club was presented. Additionally, the NJSGA Youth Foundation recieved a $25,321 donation made by the New Jersey Golf Foundation from the combined Spring Auction.

The 103rd Open Championship marks the second time Hackensack Golf Club has hosted the Open.

Winners of the Pro-Am, which was a Best Ball of 4 format, was Stephen Kay’s foursome of Kay, Chris Schiavone, Bill Henry and Forsgate Country Club golf professional Tony Perla. In the skills competition, Steve Welki won the closest to the hole on No. 3, placing it within 2-feet 7 inches of the hole.
