Qualifying: 123rd New Jersey Amateur Championship Presented by Provident Bank

KENILWORTH, N.J. - The New Jersey State Golf Association's longest standing championship is set for July 8-10 at Forest Hill Field Club. Home to two past Amateur Championships (1962, 96), the Tillinghast-designed golf course features skyline views of New York City and plenty of risk-reward golf shots. From July 8-10, the best amateurs in the state will be tested on the 6,500 yard course. 

Six qualifiers for the 123rd New Jersey Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank will take place in the month of June. 

Saturday, June 8, Neshanic Valley GC
In the first qualifier for the 123rd Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank, 12 players advanced after an 18 hole qualifying round at Neshanic Valley Golf Course. James Arbes of Watchung Valley Golf Club medaled with a 1-under par 71. His round was highlighted by five birdies. Ethan Lee of Colts Neck Golf Club followed Arbes, shooting an even par 72. Playing 6,789 yards on the Lake and Meadow courses, Lee recorded six birdies. Those advancing shot 3-over par or better.

Monday, June 10, Peddie GC
Fifteen players advanced to the 123rd Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank, following an 18-hole qualifier at Peddie Golf Club. Benjamin Ortwein of Oak Hill Golf Club earned medalist honors following a round of five-under par, 67. Ortwein, who is coming off a MAAC individual championship following his sophomore season at Rider University, made five birdies through his first seven holes to put him at the top of the leaderboard.

Tuesday, June 11, White Beeches G&CC 
Following a qualifier at White Beeches Golf and Country Club, 20 players are moving on to compete in the 123rd Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank. Zach Egermayer medaled with a round of three-under par, 69. Egermayer played collegiate golf at Villanova University and played out of White Beeches as a semi-finalist in the 2013 W.Y. Dear Junior Championship. Following closely behind at two-under par, 70, were Reed Greyserman and Ryan Applin.

Thursday, June 13, LBI National Golf Resort
In the penultimate qualifier for 123rd Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank, 10 players finished at two-over par, 74 or better at LBI National Golf Resort. Leading that way with a round of four-under par, 68, was Dylan Gallagher of Rockland Country Club. Gallagher made eight birdies on the afternoon, including four straight to close out his round and earn medalist honors.

Monday, June 17, Lake Mohawk GC
In the final qualifier for 123rd Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank, 15 players finished at five-over par, 75 or better at Lake Mohawk Golf Club.  Earning medalist honors with a round of one-under par, 69, was Cameron Link of Lake Mohawk. Link used his home-course knowledge and a bogey-free front nine with a birdie to set himself ahead of the pack and finish as the lone player to shoot under par on the afternoon.
