Pierson, Salizzoni and Hong Share Medalist Honors at Public Links Qualifier

MAHWAH, N.J. – Patrick Pierson of Darlington Golf Course fired an even par 71 to be one of two golfers to claim medalist honors on Thursday in the first qualifying round for the 89th NJSGA Public Links Championship at Darlington Golf Course in Mahwah.
Pierson, Manager of Darlington Golf Course has played the course countless times.
"My tee ball was working best for me," Pierson recalled. "I think I missed two greens, so I didn't really make any putts. I’m on this course a lot so that helped. ”
He finished his front nine 1-over par (36), before carding in two birdies on the back nine.
“It would be a great accomplishment to win this championship, something I haven't won before," said Pierson. "I have won a few tournaments and I would love to try to win this one.”
Eric Salizzoni and Jongkil Hong were also finish at the top of the leaderboard, carding an even par 71.
A total of nine players at Darlington have advanced to the 89th Public-Links Championship at Neshanic Valley Golf Course on August 16th.
This was the first qualifier in a series of three in the upcoming month.
