KENILWORTH, N.J. – On an annual basis, the New Jersey State Golf Association Youth Foundation provides grants to numerous local youth-related organizations. These organizations, both golf and non-golf related, are recognized for their outstanding contributions to children throughout the Garden State.
“The goal of the NJSGA Youth Foundation is to provide grants to needy youth groups in the State of New Jersey as a means of assisting each group financially in starting or continuing a program that is important to their mission statement,” said Frank O’Brien, chairman of the Youth Foundation.
The grants were made possible through the NJSGA Youth Foundation Pro-Am as well as the annual raffle. The Pro-Am and raffle were held on July 15, 2021 at Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown, site of the 101st NJSGA Open.
“All of these groups work tirelessly to provide a quality experience for the young people in their various communities. Our commitment to these youth groups would not be possible without the help of the many people who support our annual Pro-Am and the accompanying raffle sale which is the source of our revenue generation,” O’Brien expressed.
The recipients include the Spring Brook Foundation, St. Benedicts Prep, Mercer Street Friends, Society for Prevention of Teen Suicide, LPGA/ USGA Girls Golf of Greater Newark, Par Fore of NJ, New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association, First Tee of Jersey Shore, First Tee of Essex County, First Tee of Raritan Valley, First Tee of Plainfield and the NJ Golf Foundation.
In October, the Arc of Essex County presented the NJSGA with their Community Partner Award. The NJSGA provided the Arc of Essex County with a three-year grant to help support developing a comprehensive adaptive sports program at Camp Hope. NJSGA's efforts have assisted The Arc in providing superior camp facilities and services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Northern New Jersey.
The NJSGA Youth Foundation supports deserving youth golf and sports-related programs throughout the state of New Jersey. This support is provided through grants and instructional clinics, as well as recognition through NJSGA publications and events.
