NJSGA Receives USGA Ghin Award For Best Service
The New Jersey State Golf Association was the recipient of the 2013 “Best Service – Large Association” award at the recent USGA GHIN Users meeting at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Fla.
The NJSGA was selected from among the 26 largest golf associations in the country. Rich Kennedy, NJSGA Director of Handicapping and Member Services, accepted the award on behalf of the association.
In addition, Kennedy was recognized with a plaque from the USGA for his six years of service on the GHIN Handicap Program and Users Steering Committee.
The award is based on responses from club surveys the USGA conducts. The responses that determine the award are member clubs’ satisfaction with association service and accessibility.
“The award shows the NJSGA’s commitment to its member clubs and the relationships it has built with them over the years,” said USGA assistant director of association services Fran Nee, who presented the award.
NJSGA president Frank O’Brien stated the award is particularly gratifying in the context of having been cited for best service in the category that includes the nation’s largest golf associations.
“It is truly rewarding that the member clubs we serve have taken notice of the diligent day-to-day workings of our staff,” O’Brien said. “The staff’s enthusiasm and energy is very evident in all the work that they undertake. Congratulations to Rich Kennedy and the staff in receiving this prestigious award.”
Kennedy, who has served the NJSGA for 13 years, the last 12 as Director of Handicapping and Member Services, agreed it was an excellent reflection on the NJSGA Board and staff.
“The USGA’s Best Service Award is a reflection on the commitment the NJSGA’s Board and staff has to providing the best possible member service to its member clubs, public and private, and to its golfers,” Kennedy said.
“It is apparent that our member clubs appreciate our efforts in providing quality service. It is also very gratifying to win this type of award when there are so many other outstanding golf associations in the country doing equally good work. It’s nice to be recognized by your peers,” he added.
