NJSGA Presents Golf Summit And Seminars On The Rules Of Golf
Warm days are in the forecast and there’s no better time than now to attend a selection of events conducted by The New Jersey State Golf Association.
The NJSGA Golf Summit, a huge success in its inaugural year, is back for a second time, on Thursday, April 12 at the Forsgate Country Club in Monroe, and this year addresses the nuances involved in attracting and maintaining club members in this difficult economy. To register, click here.
A pair of ever-popular seminars on the Rules of Golf also return, on Wednesday, March 28 at the Spring Lake Golf Club, and on Tuesday, April 3, at the USGA Golf House in Far Hills.
``The Golf Summit presents a great opportunity for key staff and club officials to exchange views regarding the challenges of membership to clubs today,” said Steve Foehl, NJSGA executive director.
``We have an excellent group of presenters who will help tie together what the strategies are for clubs and their memberships,” said Kevin Purcell, an NJSGA Board of Trustees member and Chairman of the Golf Summit. ``The Golf Summit brings together representatives from differing areas of the golf population into one meeting.
``In this economy, clubs that used to have a waiting list, don’t any more, and there’s even talk of some clubs merging due to membership declines,” said Purcell, who also serves as the General Manager of Bergen County golf courses.
The Golf Summit is designed to be an educational forum for administrators at clubs and courses throughout New Jersey, featuring presentations and a panel discussion on timely topics in the golf industry, this year on membership. The event is open to members and staff of any private golf club or public facility in the state, as well as members of golf-based associations.
The Golf Summit is made possible by the support of Zurich Insurance, an NJSGA partner who helped conceive the idea for an education summit. Registration forms are accessible by clicking on the links at NJSGA.org. The cost is $35.
Players are urged to brush up on the rules of golf and there’s no better way than by attending an NJSGA Rules of Golf Seminar. These seminars are open to the public. They are particularly useful for golf committee, handicap committee and NJSGA Board members as well as club professional staff and golf coaches, such as high school and collegiate golf instructors.
The seminars focus on common rules situations encountered during every day play and at NJSGA championships, and are taught by expert rules officials representing the NJSGA.
The sessions begin with registration and breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a morning seminar and an afternoon seminar that ends at 3 p.m. Lunch is included. The registration fee is $35 and can be paid by check or credit card. Visit NJSGA.org to click on the registration link.
