NJSGA Offers Record Nine Member Golf Days For 2014
The New Jersey State Golf Associations has announced an ambitious nine-event schedule of Member Golf Days for the 2014 season.
The schedule is an all-time high for the association and betters the 2013 offering of six Member Golf Days.
The 2014 schedule encompasses nearly every pocket of the state, from Bergen County (Edgewood C.C., in River Vale) to Cape May County (Wildwood G. & C.C.), to West Jersey (Ridge at Back Brook in Ringoes and Copper Hill C.C. in Flemington), to Essex County (Rock Spring Club in West Orange) and Union County (Shackamaxon C.C. in Scotch Plains) and the Jersey Shore (Metedeconk National G.C. in Jackson, Hidden Creek in Egg Harbor and Rumson C.C.).
The schedule runs from May 28 (Wildwood) through October 14 (Hidden Creek). Other dates are June 17 (Rumson), July 21 (Ridge at Back Brook), August 5 (Rock Spring), August 18 (Metedeconk National), and September 17 (Copper Hill). Dates for Edgewood and Shackamaxon have not yet been announced.
For an affordable fee of $125, NJSGA members of public and private courses can enjoy a full golf experience from practice facility to locker room to dining room, and eat lunch, ride in a cart and play golf in a competitive atmosphere at an exclusive venue.
Registration availability at NJSGA.org for the 2014 Member Golf Days will be announced in early 2014.
“We want to provide more golf opportunities at a lot more venues on a statewide basis. We did a nice job of spreading out the venues for 2014 all over the state,” said Rich Kennedy, NJSGA Director of Handicapping and Member Services.
“It’s really exciting to have been able to do this. The word is spreading and the popularity is growing. We want to stay ahead of the demand. We are helping players fulfill their personal bucket lists. NJSGA Member Golf Days provide the opportunity to play a private course that members would otherwise never have an opportunity to play,” Kennedy said.
Hidden Creek and Metedeconk National are repeat offerings from 2013. Hidden Creek will be hosting the 2015 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship while Metedeconk National is featuring brand new greens.
“Both are fantastic venues,” Kennedy said. “For those who played them in 2013 and wish to better their score, they have a second chance. For member who missed out on them, they have the opportunity to play some really challenging courses.”
Member Golf Days began in 2011 with four events. It expanded to five MGDs in 2012 and six in 2013.
“Member Golf Days are becoming one of the most popular benefits of an NJSGA membership,” Kennedy explained. “We’re making golf dreams in New Jersey come true.”
