NJSGA Junior Champion Max Greyserman Competing In British Boys Amateur
Max Greyserman of Crestmont, who won the 92nd NJSGA Billy Y. Dear Junior Championship on July 24 at Raritan Valley Country Club, is competing this week in the British Boys Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club and Wallasey Golf Club for the second straight year. He is ranked No. 18 in the nation by juniorgolfscoreboard.com.
The 87th Boys Amateur Championship takes place from Tuesday through Sunday at Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) and Wallasey golf clubs with a field of 252 players. The stroke-play stage of The Boys Amateur Championship is played Tuesday and Wednesday at both courses before the field is cut to 64 and ties. The match play stage is played over the final four days at Royal Liverpool (Hoylake).
In Tuesday’s first round of stroke-play, Greyserman carded a 6-over-par 78, putting him in the hunt for a berth in match-play. Greyserman is one of three Americans in the field of 252. The others are brothers James (79) and Mercer Clark (80) of Columbus, Ga. James Clark is verbally committed to Georgia Tech.

In the NJSGA Junior Championship, Greyserman played sub-par golf for three straight days and it culminated with a 5 and 4 victory over Zach Egermayer of White Beeches in the final match of the Championship .
Greyserman, 18, graduated Peddie in the spring and will play for the Duke University golf team this fall. He is a second team Rolex Junior All-American.
“I came here to win and gain match-play experience,” said Greyserman, a Short Hills resident who competed in the NJSGA Juniors for the first time. “My ball striking was good overall. I really hit the driver well. But I need to find a way to hit it lower. My putting was really streaky.”
Greyserman shot 3-under-par 69 in the qualifier on Monday. He reports to Duke on August 20, just two days after the British Boys event and will play in four fall events in North Carolina.
