NJSGA Community to Celebrate Giving Tuesday on November 29
KENILWORTH, N.J. – The New Jersey State Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Foundation is gearing up for this year’s Giving Tuesday fundraiser, an annual opportunity for members of the NJSGA community to give back and support caddies seeking higher education. Giving Tuesday is scheduled for November 29, 2022.
“The golf community in New Jersey can be extremely proud of its long-standing tradition of generosity and commitment to providing educational opportunities for young men and women,” says Jeff Knapp, Director of Development for the NJSGA’s Caddie Scholarship Foundation. “Last year the NJSGA community contributed $1.2 million to provide scholarships to caddies pursuing college education and I invite golfers and friends of the game to ‘keep the caddie in golf’ and begin the season of giving by making a gift in support of the Caddie Scholarship Foundation,” remarked Knapp.
Giving Tuesday is global movement that encourages people to do good and support deserving causes and organizations. By participating in #GivingTuesday, you are supporting New Jersey caddies, their experiences and education.
The NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation has been a shining light for over 74 years in providing financial assistance to deserving member club caddies pursuing higher education. Since 1947, it has provided more than $16 million in college scholarship awards to nearly 3,100 caddies. For the 2022-23 academic year, the Foundation will provide 152 caddies with over $673,000 in scholarships. Caddie scholars are selected based on their academic performance, financial need, and length and quality of service as a caddie. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. The 152 Caddie Scholars for the academic year 2022-23 represent 86 colleges.
The NJSGA accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards for online donations. For donations greater than $5,000, please contact Jeffrey Knapp at 908-241-4653. Please note that the Caddie Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) registered charity and therefore all contributions are fully deductible for income tax purposes.
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as an American day of philanthropy and giving in response to the consumerism of Black Friday and the holidays. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
