NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Represented At Mga Pro-am
AUGUST 18, 2014 – BEDMINSTER, N.J.
Two current NJSGA Caddie Scholars represented the NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation today at the Metropolitan Golf Association’s Caddie Scholarship Pro-Am at Trump National Golf Club – Bedminster.
Colleen Farrell and JaneClare McCann, Caddie Scholars from Echo Lake Country Club, and Johanna Gavin, Director, Caddie Scholarship Foundation, joined representatives from the Westchester Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Fund and the Long Island Golf Association Caddie Scholarship Foundation.
Colleen Farrell of Scotch Plains is a sophomore at Villanova University and a recipient of the Mary Stackhouse Foundation Scholarship, as she has demonstrated academic excellence by achieving a collegiate GPA of 3.5 or higher. JaneClare McCann of Cranford is a sophomore nursing major at The Catholic University of America. She is the first recipient of the Vince Gilligan Memorial Scholarship, named in memory of a man who led his life with humor, integrity, and honesty.
This was the first year scholars from the metropolitan caddie scholarship foundations participated in the MGA Pro-Am. The premier event directly benefits the regional caddie scholarship foundations.
The NJSGA, as the host region foundation, took pride in the outstanding venue of Trump-Bedminster in Bedminster, N.J., which hosted the 2013 NJSGA Mid-Amateur Championship. The event sold out on both the Old Course and the New Course, at $600 and $500 per amateur, respectively. Next year, the MET Open will celebrate its 100thChampionship at Winged Foot Golf Club, August 24-27, 2015.
The MET Open will be played August 19-21 on the Old Course. Among the field of 15 past champions is defending champion and two time MGA Open winner Mark Brown of Tam O’Shanter. The 54 hole stroke play qualifier will make a cut at the low 60 scores after 36 holes. Follow live coverage here: www.mgagolf.org.
