NJSGA Announces Summer MGD's & Ultimate Team Event; Adds 4th Mid-Am Qualifier
Somerset Hills Country Club, Home of the 39th New Jersey Mid-Amateur Championship
KENILWORTH, N.J. - A handful of New Jersey State Golf Association events have been added to the slate for the 2022 season, including five Member Golf Days (MGD), the Ultimate Team Event and an additional Mid-Amateur Championship qualifier.
Member Golf Days
Registration for June and July NJSGA Member Golf Days opens on Tuesday, May 3 at 9:00 a.m. Most notably, one of these MGD’s, Lake Mohawk (June 20) will offer a unique opportunity to NJSGA members.
Those interested in entering a MGD must first have a NJSGA/Golf Genius event account and profile. Anyone who played in a NJSGA MGD or tournament in 2020 or 2021 already has an account, and when logging into the system, should do so as a “returning user”. A person who has not competed in a NJSGA MGD or tournament since 2020 will have to first create an account/profile, and begin the registration process as a “new” user. In the case of team event, both (or all) team members must have a Golf Genius account. (Click here to access the new user, profile creation page. Note: a valid GHIN number is required.)

For the first time, on June 20 at Lake Mohawk Golf Club, the NJSGA will offer a Member Golf Day – that is open to non-NJSGA members – with a special promotion. It is a member with three guests event, where one NJSGA member can bring three non-NJSGA members, and the NJSGA member receives free entry into the MGD!
NJSGA members will also have the opportunity to play one of N.J.’s storied golf courses, The Knoll Country Club, which makes its debut on the MGD schedule on Tuesday, July 26. The Knoll, which was designed by the legendary Charles Banks, is in the midst of a major renovation which promises to restore the magnificent course to its earlier glory. The course, which opened in the late 1920s, has a storied history of hosting local championships and celebrities like Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto and Jackie Gleason. It is said that DiMaggio brought his wife, movie star Marilyn Monroe, to the club on occasion. Its current conditions are considered to be the best in decades.
The following is a full schedule of MGD’s which open for registration on May 3:
The Ridge at Back Brook (Individual competition) – Monday, June 13
Lake Mohawk GC (Member + 3 Non-members; Best-Ball-of-Four team competition) – Monday, June 20
Cherry Valley CC (Two-Person Team competition) - Monday, July 11

Ultimate Team Event (UTE)
The NJSGA returns the highly anticipated Ultimate Team Event (UTE) on July 7 at the Banks Course at Forsgate Country Club. Registration for the UTE begins on May 3, 2022 at 9 a.m.
The UTE is a one-day, two-person team event using the Stableford Points System with Net and Gross scoring. The 2022 event will be comprised of a two-person team from NJSGA member clubs competing in an 18-hole, Four-Ball qualifying round in the morning followed by a 9-hole, Pinehurst format Championship round in the afternoon.
