The New Jersey State Golf Association's Caddie Scholarship Foundation was the recipient of a check for $20,000 presented by the Metropolian Golf Association's MGA Foundation. Making the presentation at the NJSGA Winter Board Meeting on December 3 at Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown was MGA president Stephen Boyd.
This year, the NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation has bestowed 201 college scholarships to male and female caddies amounting to more than $840,000. Since 1947, nearly $12 million has been disseminated to caddie scholars by the NJSGA CSF.
"The NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation is most appreciative to be included each year as a recipient of the MGA’s Open Pro-Am scholarship proceeds," said Ed Batta, chiarman of the NJSGA Caddie SCholarship Foundation.
"Our inclusion is but another fine example of the exceptional cooperation that exists within the Met area golf associations to promote and grow the game of golf and our collective commitment to provide financial aid and academic opportunity to the young men and women who reside within our communities," Batta added.
"The caddie is a wonderful tradition associated with our great game and we all share in the commitment to preserve the tradition of the caddie in golf."
