Men's Four-ball Leads Off NJSGA Championship Schedule

The New Jersey State Golf Association’s Men’s Four-Ball Championship will lead off the 2018 Championship Schedule.

The 86th NJSGA Four-Ball Championship is set for May 8-10, at Rumson Country Club. The date is a departure from the previous year when the event took place in early August.

“The Four-Ball Championship will be taking place at a time of year when the local, regional and national calendar is a little lighter. We are hoping the event appeals to players who want to compete in tournament golf early in the season,” said Mike McAneny, NJSGA Tournament Director.

The change in this event is one of many on the 2018 NJSGA Championship schedule.

The repositioning of the annual NJSGA Boys Championship away from the William Y. Dear Junior Championship will enable young men, ages 14 and under, to participate in both championships this summer.

The 48th Boys Championship will be played on Wednesday and Thursday, June 27-28 at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, held concurrently as the 64th Junior Girls' Championship at Neshanic Valley. The format will be 36-Holes of Stroke Play.

The 97th Junior Championship takes place August 6-8 at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater. The Junior Championship is for boys ages 18 and younger who are not currently attending college. Previously, the Junior and Boys' Championships took place simultaneously and participants were required to choose to play in one event.

“The separation of the Boys Championship from the Junior Championship allows boys ages 14 and younger an opportunity to compete in multiple events, including the Boys Championship along with golfers of a similar age and skill”, said Mike McAneny, NJSGA Tournament Director.
