Mark Mccormick, Son Ryan, Experience Thrill Of A Lifetime At U.S. Open
For the McCormick family, it was the trip of a lifetime. Mark McCormick, who was co-medalist at U.S. Open sectional qualifying with Rumson’s Brian Gaffney, earned a spot at the Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco on Monday, June 4.
While son Ryan, a medalist at the first round of U.S. Open qualifying at Wheatley Hills, didn’t get to advance to San Francisco, he was about to embark on the biggest week of his life when he won the NJSGA Amateur at Baltusrol in a record-setting fashion of 12-under-par 276 over the next three days. His 276 was five shots better than the previous record.
