CALDWELL, N.J. - Fellow Garden State Women’s Golf Association members Kathleen Maloney and Tracy Pester won the 11th Women’s Four-Ball Championship at Green Brook Country Club on May 24, firing a 1-over par 73.
The duo bested the field by three strokes. Maloney and Pester have been playing for many years together, and note that they regularly compliment each other's games.
“We do play in a lot of different things together over the years, so we have a good partnership,” said Pester.
“We calm each other down,” Maloney added.
The duo remained steady for a majority of the round, carding 15 pars. Their scorecard was highlighted by a birdie on No. 15.
“Our drives put us in position for a really good second shot and then a shot at par,” said Pester.
Although this was not their first victory as a pair, Maloney and Pester intend on defending their title next year and playing in the same fashion.
"We had a lot of clutch putts too," recalled Maloney.
"Just remaining steady," Pester added.
In the net division, Shaunagh Guinness and Heather Brocious carded a 6-under 65 to take home the championship.
