Let's Get Educated
We’re close. Hang in there. The tide is turning and the warming trend will usher in spring. While we still can’t play golf in all parts of the state, we can get ready to play. The NJSGA has two great learning opportunities coming up in April. As a player, this is a great time of year to brush up on the Rules of Golf; and as a club employee, this is a great time of year for continuing education.
The NJSGA will offer two Rules Seminars in April as follows:
Thursday, April 7th – USGA Golf House
Wednesday, April 13th – Spring Lake Golf Club
Both sessions are the same and are open to all golfers from NJSGA member clubs and courses. They are especially useful for golf committee, handicap committee, and Board members as well as club professional staff. These seminars will focus on common Rules situations encountered during everyday play and at NJSGA Championships, and are taught by expert Rules Officials from the NJSGA.
The sessions begin with registration and breakfast at 8:00 am followed by a morning seminar and an afternoon seminar that ends at 3:00. Lunch is included. The registration fee is $50 and can be paid by check or credit card. Please click here to access the registration form with all of the details.
The NJSGA is excited to announce the inaugural NJSGA Golf Summit on April 14th. This day is designed to be an educational forum for decision makers at clubs and courses throughout New Jersey, featuring presentations and a panel discussion on timely topics in the golf industry. The event is open to members and staff of any private golf club or public facility in NJ, as well as members of golf-based associations in NJ. Brad Klein, the entertaining writer and speaker from Golfweek, will be our special guest speaker. Panelists will include the leaders from the four large associations that operate in NJ: the NJSGA, the PGA Section, the Club Managers Association and the Golf Course Superintendents Association. The program will begin at 8:00 am at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton and is made possible by the support of Zurich Insurance and the Affinity Agency Group, new NJSGA partners that helped conceive the idea for an education summit. The invitation and registration form are accessible by clicking on the links below. The registration fee is only $35.
We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these events in April.
