Kosko & Hassel Win 28th Senior Four-Ball Championship
TENAFLY, N.J. - The duo of Mark Kosko and Tom Hassel manufactured a late run, posting a 2-under par on their back nine, to win the 28th Senior Four-Ball Championship Thursday afternoon at the par-72, 6,350 yard Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly.
The duo shot a 3-under par 69 to edge the field by one stroke.
“Anytime you can win a state event, it's special," Hassel reflected after the round. “I'm going to enjoy this. It was it was fun to win with a good friend.”
Kosko shared in his partner's sentiments.
“I've never won anything. The first thing I've won is a state event!”
Overall, the pair notched four birdies throughout their round.
There was a three-way tie for second place at two-under-par 70 which included the teams of Frank Abbott and Jeff Kortina, Phil Fabrizio and Jim Craffey, and Frank Korn and Richard Lippert. In the net category, Ralph Slepian and Tom Ferguson (of Knickerbocker) paced the field with a 9-under par 63.
