Komline Clinches Player Of The Year
Brian Komline of High Bridge Hills GC has added another distinction to his golf resume: 2008 NJSGA Player of the Year. In fact, he has successfully "defended" his title from last year as the 2007 Player of the Year. In one of the closest races in recent years, Komline edged out Michael Stamberger of Plainfield CC by ten points, 560 to 550.
Highlights of Komline’s season, and some of his major point earners, include a T-7 and 2nd low amateur at the State Open at Alpine, a victory in the Men’s Public Links Championship at Rockleigh and a 3rd place finish at the Ike, the MGA´s Stroke Play Championship played at Mountain Ridge this year. The award will be presented to Komline at the Celebration of Golf dinner on October 23rd at Crestmont CC.
The final points list will be published after the competitive golf season in NJ concludes. Although there are still points up for grabs, Komline has clinched the top spot. The NJSGA Player of the Year award recognizes the top amateur player in the State based on a points system. Points are awarded for top finishes in a variety of stroke and match play events, from NJSGA Championships to MGA, GAP and USGA events to select club and national invitational tournaments. The NJSGA Player of the Year award is sponsored by Donnelly Construction.
