BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. - Jason Bataille of Bridgewater has had a stellar week at the 42nd U.S. Mid-Amatuer Championship as he's advanced to the Round of 16 after winning a pair of matches on Tuesday.

Scoring

Earning a spot in match play via a 16-for-14 playoff, Bataille proceeded to take down 6-seed Harry Bolton of Australia 2-and-1 in the Round of 64. In his afternoon Round of 32 match, Bataille earned another 2-and-1 victory, over Todd White of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Bataille, 40, will take on Parker Edens of Brookings, South Dakota at 7:30 a.m. ET.

As for the rest of the New Jersey contingent, 2021 U.S. Mid-Amateur runner-up and 2020 New Jersey Open Champion Mark Costanza met two-time U.S. Mid-Amateur Champion Stewart Hagestad in the Round of 32, but fell in a barn burner, 2-and-1. He won his Round of 64, 1-up over Josh Persons of Fargo, N.D. Troy Vannucci of Marlton lost a 3-and-2 match to Miguel Ordonez.

U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship
Alyssa Roland of Short Hills made a run at Stonewall Links on Tuesday. After winning a Round of 64 match on Monday, she proceeded to defeated 2018 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Champion Shannon Johnson 4-and-3 in the Round of 32. Her next match against Alexandra Austin of Burke, Virginia went the distance. Taking a 2-up lead into the 9th hole, Roland's lead dwindled as Austin tied the match on No. 11. Going into 18 tied, Austin carded a birdie, which would earn her the victory.
