Huang fires six-under to pace field in Amateur Qualifying at Quail Brook
SOMERSET, N.J. – William Huang of Springdale Golf Club fired a six-under-par 66 to claim medalist honors today in the third of four qualifying rounds for the 121st NJSGA Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank at Quail Brook Golf Club in Somerset.
"I’ve caddied more tournaments than I’ve played in so far this season, but the front nine was working pretty well,” joked Huang, who had a roller coaster round. He finished his front nine at five-under (31), carding four birdies and an eagle before a more challenging back nine.
“I just moved back to New Jersey from New Hampshire, and am really excited to be back... and playing some good golf.”
Huang and 13 others now advance to the 121st Amateur Championship at Rockaway River Country Club on July 11-13.
The fourth and final qualifier is this upcoming Monday, June 13 at Rossmoor Golf Club in Monroe Township.
