Granahan and Gaglione Claim 12th New Jersey Women’s Four-Ball Championship
BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - Kate Granahan and Olivia Gaglione shot a 1-under par 69 at Basking Ridge Country Club to win the 12th New Jersey Four-Ball Championship on Thursday, May 23.
Trailing the entire day, the duo remained poised down the stretch, parring the final four holes. Granahan put together two birdies on the back nine to help lead the duo to the victory.
“We were helping each other a lot on putts and we were rolling them really well,” Gaglione said.
“Olivia made some really good par putts coming down the stretch that really helped our team out.” Granahan added. “We were helping each other read putts and it was your basic fairways and greens. The greens were the trickiest part out here today.”
A 15-year age difference, Granahan and Gaglione were introduced by Gaglione’s mother at Upper Montclair Country Club and the two hit it off since.
“Her mom said, oh, my daughter's trying to get into golf,” Granahan recalled. “I said, let her hang out with me. Now she's kind of my shadow. Anytime I'm at the club, she's there and she loves practicing and playing. Me and Liv play golf together all the time.”
With the win, Granahan adds to her NJSGA titles. She won the New Jersey Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship in 2021 and 2023.
Sammie Dolce and Reese Hannon finished right behind the Upper Montclair duo, carding an even par 70.
In the net division, Marge Zietchik and Robyn Lindsay won on a match of cards with a 7-under par 63.
