SILVIS, Ill. – 2019 New Jersey Open Champion Chris Gotterup made the most out of his sponsors exemption, finishing T-4 at the John Deere Classic on July 3. Gotterup posted a 5-under par 66 in the fourth round to jump up six spots and collect his best finish on the PGA Tour to date.

“At the start, I knew going into today that this was going to be an important day,” said Gotterup following his round. “I definitely left a lot of shots out there yesterday, and just I knew that today could go one or two ways. I could play okay and have a nice finish, but if you turn it on and finish really high, could be a special day.”

His final round was highlighted by a blemish-free card and four birdies. Heading into the clubhouse, Gotterup birdied the final three holes.

“Just more validation that I do belong out here,” Gotterup explained. “Honestly, I didn't have my greatest stuff this week. Hit it amazing, but just putted pretty poorly until coming down the stretch. You pick up things along the way. I draw on my experiences like Puerto Rico, and the last couple weeks have been really helpful to get to where I am.”

For the week, Gotterup finished third in driving distance (335.1 yards) at TPC Deere Run.
