Golf Community Mourns the Passing of Jamie Fordyce

Jamie Fordyce, a longtime PGA Professional in New Jersey and most recently of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away on November 9, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on July 20, 1959, Jamie led a life dedicated to the game of golf, leaving a significant impact on the sport and those who had the privilege to learn from and play alongside him.

Jamie’s career in golf spanned several decades, beginning in his youth at Cedar Hill Country Club where he worked as a  caddy, cart man, and groundskeeper, and culminating in a distinguished tenure as a Lead Golf Instructor and Assistant Golf Professional at PGA Golf Club. His knowledge and skills also extended to his role on various committees where he helped shape the future of golf in New Jersey.

Jamie also shared his passion for golf through media, contributing articles to Golf Illustrated magazine and hosting a radio show, thereby inspiring and educating countless enthusiasts. One of Jamie's proudest accomplishments were his 16 "hole-in-ones". The last one taking place on one of his favorite holes and golf courses - number 6 on the Dye Course.

He is survived by his partner, Annie Schrader of Port St. Lucie, FL, his son, Jimmy Fordyce of Royersford, PA, Annie’s daughters: Ali Schrader, of Denver, CO, Holly Luckett and husband Jason Luckett of Smyrna, TN and his siblings: Barbara Fordyce of Lambertville, NJ; John Fordyce of Livingston, NJ; Peter Fordyce of Highland, MI; Stephen Fordyce of Boonton, NJ; Thomas Fordyce of Phoenix, AZ; Alison Fordyce of Lake Como, NJ; Jane Fordyce of Rumson, NJ; and Alastair Fordyce of Caldwell, NJ. Jamie was preceded in death by his parents, Alastair Fordyce and Elizabeth Fordyce.

Known for his expertise and dedication, Jamie provided instruction through clinics, golf schools, and individual lessons, contributing significantly to the golf community.

Throughout his career, Jamie worked at prominent clubs including Hollywood Golf Club, Spring Lake Golf Club and Montammy Golf Club in New Jersey. He then worked at the PGA Golf Club and Learning Center since 2008. He was respected not only for his teaching but for his active participation in tournament play and operations. Among his many achievements, Jamie was a multi-time champion, including the 1984 NJSGA Amateur Championship, NJSGA Challenge Cup, New Jersey PGA Section Championship, NJPGA Players Championship, NJPGA Senior-Junior and many more.

His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the passion for golf he fostered in others. A private Celebration of Jamie’s Life, will be held at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL on December 7th, 2024 from 11:00am – 2:00pm.
