Get Involved At 2016 PGA Championship At Baltusrol Golf Club

The development process for the 2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield has been in full swing for more than a year now, but there is still plenty of unfinished business.

There are three major areas where local golfers and businesses may still fully enjoy one of golf majors, set for July 25-31, 2016, on an up-close-and-personal level.

“There are three ways to get involved. The event will come and go before you know it, so now is the time to find out how to participate,” said Ryan Cannon, PGA 2016 Championship director.

“A limited number of tickets remain and we expect a full sellout; corporate hospitality tents are still available but selling quickly, and volunteers are still needed,” he said.

The best way to find out availability on any of the three options for enjoying next summer’s PGA Championship at Baltusrol is by visiting the official website:

Then click on PGA Championship 2016 for Baltusrol and the visitor will be directed to the home page for the event. Option buttons are located at the top of the webpage.

The weekly “Wanamaker Club Ticket Package,” cost $575. Daily grounds tickets range from $25 on Monday, July 25, to $115 for the final day on Sunday, July 31. Juniors 17 years of age and younger will be admitted into the Championship grounds free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Each ticketed adult will be permitted four junior grounds admissions per day at no additional charge.

On October 6, 7, and 8, the PGA offered a “Taste of the 2016 PGA Championship,” setting up three different styles of prospective hospitality tents on site at Baltusrol. Tents ranged in size from the 100-person and 75-person tents, to the oversized Sarazen Suites building with 30-person table packages available.

“Our corporate hospitality clients should expect a return on their investment in this Championship,” Cannon said. “We intend to deliver a world-class experience for their guests.

“All major championships are special but when it comes to such an iconic venue like Baltusrol, it goes to an entirely new level. It’s not every day local golf fans have the opportunity to watch the best player in the world compete at such a special place,” Cannon said.

The last time the PGA Championship was conducted at Baltusrol was in 2005 when Phil Mickelson won. Baltusrol has hosted seven U.S. Opens, second only to Oakmont’s eight. Jack Nicklaus won two of them there and of his 18 majors, he only repeated on three courses – Augusta, St Andrews and Baltusrol.

Volunteers are needed, particularly in the merchandising area.

“Volunteering is a unique way to experience the Championship and it is also a tremendous value, The volunteering fee is $185 and volunteers are asked to work four four-hour shifts. In return, they receve a custom Ralph Lauren shirt, headwear and outwear.

“They also receive a seven-day credential to the Championship, food and water vouchers, a copy of the official PGA program, a one-time discount in The Championship Shops and complimentary parking each day. It’s a retail package worth more than $500,” Cannon noted.

NJSGA members can still volunteer as a hole marshal, up until October 16.
