SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – New Jersey’s Megha Ganne shot a second round even par 71 on Friday at the U.S. Women’s Open, hosted by The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif. She will begin Saturday's third round at 4-under par for the championship, tied for third place with Megan Khang. Ganne will begin round three at 2:24 p.m. local time (5:24 p.m. EDT).
After starting on the back nine and shooting a 2-over 38, Ganne, of Holmdel bounced back on the front, firing a blemish-free 34. Her 2-under front nine was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the 1st and 7th holes.
After starting her round rocky, Ganne reflected on what she capitalized on in round two.
“Yeah, I was just kind of looking through the pin sheets and I could tell there are some holes out there that are wide open for you and you'll have a wedge in your hand, and you know what to do from there, so don't worry about your bogeys,” Ganne expressed.
Wayne native Marina Alex put together a 1-over 72, which puts her in a tie for 12th. Alex carded two birdies on Friday. She will tee off in round three on Saturday, June 5 at 4:29 p.m. ET.
