Four Headed to Lancaster for 79th U.S. Women’s Open Championship
HAWORTH, N.J. - Following a 36-hole qualifier, Caroline Masson, Maude Leblanc, Nanna Koerstz Madsen, and Yan Liu have all earned a trip to the 79th U.S. Women’s Open Championship, set to be contested May 30 – June 2 at Lancaster Country Club. All four women are professionals.
Masson, of Germany, finished as medalist, carding rounds of 64 and 67 to finish at 13-under par. She’s been a member of the LPGA Tour since 2010 and has been a part of four Solheim Cup Teams.
Leblanc, of Canada and Madsen, of Denmark both turned in a 132 (-12), while Liu of China finished at 133.
Ysabel Liu of Short Hills shot a 10-under par 62 in her second round, a course record, and propelled her to share low amateur honors with Yana Wilson of Henderson, Nevada. Mike LaBrutto, head golf professional at Cobblestone Creek was the last individual to shoot the course record - a 6-under par 64. He completed that feat 11 years ago to the day.
In the alternate positions were Na Rin An (First Alternate) and Olivia Cowan (Second Alternate), who earned their way via a playoff.
