MONROE, N.J. - Forsgate Country Club and the Schiavone family generously donated $1,000 to the NJSGA Caddie Scholarship Foundation following the 8th Annual RA Schiavone Memorial Cup on Thursday, October 14.
"We're thankful for the donation toward the Caddie Scholarship Foundation," said Caddie Scholarship Director Bill King. "This goes full circle because I was a caddie scholar at Forsgate Country Club when I was a young man."
The two-day event held at Forsgate Country Club consisted of an amateur skills competition followed by a two-man team, aggregate score Pro/Senior Scratch Championship.
The Schiavone Cup is named in honor of longtime Garden State golf course owner/investor Ronald A. Schiavone (1925-2011). The founder of Schiavone Construction Company, he built large portions of the New Jersey Turnpike, including Interchange 8A, the exit adjacent to Forsgate Country Club.
Mark Czerniakowski won the amateur portion of the championship, shooting a 36-hole score of 150 (79-71). Nick Bova of Hamilton Farm Golf Club shot a five-under par 66 to win the professional division.
