Henry Bolster carded a 2-under par 69 on the 6,175-yard par 71. He started off his round 4-under through four holes.

“I'm really happy with how I played,” said Bolster following his round. “I've been playing so bad lately so I just took a couple of days off. I’m so happy right now.”

The 16-year-old will be making his first appearance in the major championship.

“I am so pumped,” Bolster said of competing in the Open. “Hopefully get some practice rounds in before and get ready.”

Jaimie Pierson, head golf professional at Baltusrol Golf Club finished as the low professional, shooting a 1-under par 70. With the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship on the horizon at Baltusrol, Pierson has had limited time to practice on his own game.

“I hit balls yesterday, played in a Pro-Member at Hamilton Farm last week, other than that, I haven't played,” Pierson recalled. “I think this is my fifth round since the end of April.”

After earning medalist honors at the Knob Hill Golf Club Open qualifier in 2022, Pierson has higher hopes for his performance in the 2023 Open.

“I want to be better at my job than I am at playing golf,” Pierson explained. “I understand it's a part of the job but take advantage of the opportunities when you get a chance to tee it up and play in events like this. Hopefully I play better in the Open than I did last year. Today you just want to shoot a good enough score to advance, so it's a lot about making pars.”

The next qualifier for the Open Championship will be Thursday, June 22 at Knoll Country Club.
