Famed Atlantic City Country Club to host NJSGA's inaugural South Jersey Cup on October 8
Atlantic City Country Club, one of the finest and most famous venues in New Jersey, will host the inaugural South Jersey Cup on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. The event will include the top male and female amateurs of all ages from throughout New Jersey – all in support of a worthy cause.
Proceeds from the South Jersey Cup benefit the Gail Reilly Scholarship Program that assists New Jersey high school golfers by providing grants to defray the cost of college tuition. The cost of entry into the South Jersey Cup is $150, which includes green fee, cart, lunch, post-golf hors d’oeuvres and awards. Trophies and golf shop credit will also be awarded to top finishers.
The format for the event, which includes overall, mid-amateur (ages 25 and above) and senior amateur (ages 55 and above) flights for male and female golfers, is 18-holes, individual Stroke Play with gross scoring. (There is no net competition.) Players entered in the senior division (both men and women) will compete in a separate flight from a shorter yardage.
Each entrant’s USGA Handicap Index will be used to determine eligibility in two ways. First, each entrant must have an active GHIN handicap through a New Jersey State Golf Association member club or golf course. Secondly, golfers with lower handicap indexes have entry priority into the event. If entries exceed 60 men or 40 women, the lower golfer Handicap Index will receive priority.
In both the men’s and women’s senior flights, 22 positions will be set aside for each. If entries exceed 22 in either senior flight, the player with the lower Handicap Index receive priority.
