Deng and Shao Set to Face in the 70th Junior Girls’ Championship Final Match

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The final match of the 70th Junior Girls’ Championship is set for Wednesday morning at Mercer Oaks Golf Course East between Aphrodite Deng and Sarah Shao.

Deng defeated Anushka Sawant in the quarterfinals, 2 up, while Shao advanced to the semifinals after defeating Claire Lu 2 and 1.  

In the semifinals, Deng took down Ysabel Liu 7 and 5, highlighted by four consecutive birdies to start the back nine and close out her match.  

After falling behind early in her semifinal match to Isabella Wang, Shao won No. 3 with a par to knot the match up. She took a 1 up advantage at the turn after winning No. 9, a 355-yard par 4. Shao went on to win holes 12 and 14 to close out her match and win 3 and 2. 

The final match will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Mercer Oaks. The winner will recieve an exemption in to the U.S. Junior Girls' Championship at El Caballero Country Club in California.
