Cobblestone Creek and Donnelly Industries welcome NJSGA Member Golf Day Contestants

LAWRENCEVILLE, NEW JERSEY – A total of 72 NJSGA members enjoyed top-tier amenities, great golf, and a fun afternoon on Monday during the NJSGA’s fifth Member Golf Day of the 2024 season at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Lawrenceville. Joining the NJSGA were its corporate partners from Donnelly Industries, the presenting partner of the 104th Open Championship, which will be held next Tuesday-Thursday, July 23-25 at Plainfield Country Club.

Donnelly Industries, the Official Construction and Energy Efficiency Partner of the New Jersey State Golf Association, recently completed a multi-faceted project at Cobblestone Creek, which included a complete overhaul of the club’s HVAC system and upgraded, energy-efficient lighting. These improvements were incentivized by PSE&G, the local utility company, leading to major savings for the club.

Brian Bauer, PGA General Manager and COO of Cobblestone Creek, summarized the successful initiative. “We are experiencing over a 20 percent savings over last year January through June 2023 compared to this year over the same time period. This is a direct benefit from the program offered and delivered on by Donnelly Energy and the PSE&G incentive program. Donnelly and Justin Avallone have been very helpful with steering everything along and it’s been a fantastic project so far. It’s one of the benefits the NJSGA has provided us with through Donnelly.”

"Having worked with Cobblestone Creek on several energy efficiency upgrades, I can confidently say that they are the perfect testimonial on how advantageous it is for clubs to ‘go green’ in New Jersey,” stated Justin Avallone of Donnelly Energy.

Avallone continued, “If you’ve attended prior events or Member Golf Days at Cobblestone Creek, you may have noticed the clear difference in the look and feel of their clubhouse this week. What you didn’t see is the financial savings the club received on their utility bills, which can go towards better serving their members and guests. We're grateful to Cobblestone Creek and the NJSGA for their advocacy and hope to inspire more clubs and businesses to adopt clean energy."

In addition to the Energy Efficiency projects, there are early-stage discussions between Cobblestone Creek and Donnelly for possible construction and other infrastructure improvements in the coming years.

“There’s no question Donnelly is one of the biggest and best in the industry. They really understand the club industry from the standpoint of members and what they are looking for,” said Bauer. “Rod Donnelly and his team have been a fantastic partner and we’re excited about continuing our relationship with them now and in the future.”

Cobblestone Creek has experienced a renaissance in recent years. Formerly known as Greenacres Country Club, the golf course was redesigned and opened in its new and enhanced state in 2018. Between the impeccable conditioning of the golf course, plus a welcoming and vibrant clubhouse that features amenities including aquatics, racquets, health and fitness, Cobblestone Creek proved to be a wonderful host to the NJSGA’s latest Member Golf Day.

As for the competition, Christopher Wagner of Mercer Oaks Golf Course won the Flight 1 title with an individual Stableford score of 41. Niamh Flood-Finnan of NJSGA E-Club won Flight 2 with a score of 38, and Bob Rocco won Flight 3 with a score of 38. Full scoring is available by clicking here.
