A Member Golf Day at Cobblestone Creek with Donnelly Energy
LAWRENCE, N.J. – On a beautiful Monday afternoon, Cobblestone Creek Country Club opened its doors to the New Jersey State Golf Association for a Member Golf Day in conjunction with Donnelly Energy. A field of over 70 golfers had the opportunity to play a round of golf on a great course as well as enjoy new renovations made to the clubhouse on behalf of Donnelly Energy.
Donnelly Energy is the preferred energy partner for the New Jersey State Golf Association, offering commercial energy efficiency, energy supply services, and electric vehicle charging solutions to the association’s member clubs and member-owned businesses alike.
“Since we’ve been working with the New Jersey State Golf Association, they’ve done a great job of partnering us with clubs who are looking to make upgrades to their infrastructure at their facilities. We’re able to help facilitate those clubs with utilities and offsetting costs while also getting them a superior product,” said Justin Avallone, Vice President of Utility Programs at Donnelly Energy. “The team at the NJSGA is always very welcoming and offer great introductions to help facilitate the process as best as possible.”
New to Cobblestone Creek is a complete new set of high-efficiency HVAC units on the roof along with upgrades to older lighting to newer, more energy-efficient fixtures. Each of these upgrades also come with significant incentives to be picked up by a local utility company.
“The benefits of the current energy program that is being installed is a fantastic opportunity through a program that we were in need of with our aging infrastructure,” said Brain Bauer, General Manager at Cobblestone Creek Country Club. “Donnelly and Justin Avallone has been very helpful with steering this along and it’s been a fantastic project so far. It’s one of the benefits the NJSGA has provided us with through Donnelly.”
Member Golf Days provide a casual, non-championship atmosphere to NJSGA members who have an active NJSGA/GHIN Handicap of 30.0 or less. Each year hundreds of NJSGA members have the opportunity to experience a variety of private clubs in a relaxed and social day of golf.
“We always love to present and showcase our facility to NJSGA clubs and members. It’s great to host and we’ve got a beautiful project for them to see what we’re doing as a benefit from the NJSGA,” said Bauer. “We’re embarking on a whole lower clubhouse renovation through Donnelly as well. These are all capital projects that need to happen so we can remain competitive in the marketplace.”
Cobblestone Creek has made a number of renovations in recent years as they strive to provide the membership and guests with the best possible golf experience, thanks in great part to Donnelly Industries. Cobblestone Creek’s 18-hole golf course was added to the rebranded Greenacres Country Club in 2018. The clubhouse and surrounding facilities will continue to evolve with the help of Donnelly.
“Obviously anytime you can take your work that you are doing day-to-day and experience it on a beautiful course like Cobblestone Creek it’s a great opportunity,” said Avallone. “To show others the work we do as well as appreciate the clubs and facilities that we are upgrading is a wonderful experience.”
Members of the Donnelly team handed out gifts on the first tee and joined the day’s festivities by hosting a raffle and giving out prizes. In fitting fashion, the Donnelly team of Avallone, Karan Raina, Mike McNamara and Saiful Khan finished tied for first at 15-under par, 55. Along with the Donnelly team atop the leaderboard was the grouping of Jim Sias, Todd Brennan, Dennis Esser and Chris Carlin.
“There’s no question Donnelly is one of the biggest and best in the industry. They really understand the club industry from the standpoint of members and what they are looking for,” said Bauer. “Rod Donnelly and his team have been a fantastic partner and we’re excited about continuing our relationship with them now and in the future.”
