Campanile Captures 6th South Jersey Cup
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The 6th South Jersey Cup concluded with three new champions at Ballamor Golf Club on Tuesday. Anthony Campanile earned the Men’s Amateur title, Jessica Kelley claimed the Women’s Amateur and Tim Auger grabbed the Men’s Senior division.
Campanile fired a score of 1-under par, 71 on the 6,641-yard course en route to the top of the leaderboard. Campanile then outlasted Ben Keyser in a sudden-death playoff to win the championship.
“It was a grind,” Campanile said of the competition. “We were out there a long time. I hit some good shots and stayed patient.”
Campanile also earned an exemption into the 124th New Jersey Amateur Championship with his victory.
"It’s great," Campanile said of the exemption. "It is one of the reasons you play in events like these."
In the Women’s Amateur gross division, Jessica Kelley of Heron Glen Golf Course topped the leaderboard by winning three strokes over the field.
Auger, of LBI National, ran away with the Senior Division with a score of even-par, 72. Auger’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the par four, third hole.
In the Women’s Net division, Josephine Baldwin shot one-under par 71.
