Calve Paces Field at Colts Neck GC Public Links Qualifying
COLTS NECK, N.J. – Ricky Calve of Colts Neck Golf Club fired a six-under par, 65 to claim medalist honors on Monday at Colts Neck Golf Club in the final qualifying round for the 89th NJSGA Public Links Championship.
Calve, 21, used his home course knowledge of Colts Neck to his advantage on his way to the top of the leaderboard.
"I’ve played here probably a couple hundred times so it helps a lot,” said Calve.
After a bogey on hole six and a par on seven, Calve played the final 11 holes at six-under with six birdies to close out his round.
"I was just hitting it in the fairway and hitting greens," said Calve. “It was nothing special.”
Along with Calve, 14 others also now advance to the 89th Public-Links Championship at Neshanic Valley Golf Course on August 16th.
