Bayonne's Darin Goldstein Wins Eagle Oaks Invitational For Second Year In A Row
Bayonne’s Darin Goldstein became the first two-time champion of the Eagle Oaks Invitational when he successfully defended his crown with an even-par 69-73-142 on Tuesday, May 8, at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale.
Goldstein was three shots better than Eric LeFante of Somerset Hills, who shot 72-73-145. Tied for third at 146 were Brian Komline and Todd Peluso, both of Black Oak. Peter Barron of Stone Harbor was fifth at 148.
In the Senior Division, Ron Vannelli of Forsgate shot 72, six shots better than Cyrus Whitney of Hackensack and Tom Yellin of Stanwich.
In 2017, Goldstein carded rounds of 73-72-145 to find himself tied with Trevor Randolph of Arcola, necessitating a playoff. On the first extra hole, Goldstein played a brilliant flop-shot from 35 yards that ended six inches from the cup for a par save to win the event.
